"After my very first day with preschool 1, I was ready to come back for more. After a few days, I was able to work with kindergarten, and later with Preschool 4. Instead of being the burden that I was afraid that they might be, they turned out to be the greatest part of my day. I looked forward to finishing lunch so that I could work with the children more. The kids at CCVI are the most well mannered, smart, and fun loving kids that I have ever gotten a chance to work with. I know that I will always remember Ronny making me a birthday crown, talking with Jason on the playground, and reading to Carleigh and the rest of kindergarten class after lunch. I have become so attached that I refer to my project as my job, and find myself singing the “Goodbye Song” from circle time to myself in the shower. I only hope that I will be able to come back to help more sometime soon."

"The biggest surprise I had at CCVI was how much I enjoyed everything about working here. My perception of the visually impaired children changed dramatically. I will always remember the exact moment when it hit me. The difference between a blind child and a “normal” child is slim to none. The kids here are just great! They are in a loving, caring, and unbelievably knowledgeable environment here at CCVI."

"As my first day began, I was put into Ms. Penny’s classroom and honestly felt like a new student. I was new and didn’t really know what to expect so I took on the role of being a shadow to the teachers to see how I would use my own personality in the classroom. Surprisingly, it was not the teachers who would bring out the way I would react, but it was Ethan, Abby, Grace, Alicia, Chanz, Sha’Darius, Eric, Kate and countless others. I remember that the first day was the hardest because the kids were shy and it was hard for them to open up to this new stranger. But soon realized that it was me that was the shy one and the kids were the ones that took my hand and helped me find my place. Hopefully, I can come back to volunteer or just stop by and visit “my” kids. I can truly say that I will carry this experience with me for the rest of my life, and I am more than thankful to everyone, the office, the teachers, the students, and all at CCVI for making my Senior Service Project nothing less than unforgettable."
