Safety Measures

We are monitoring the current COVID-19 situation closely and are working with the City of Kansas City to host an event with Kansas City’s public health and safety guidance. Should their guidance result in necessary changes to the event, we will be in contact with all participants. Please see our cancellation policy.

Please see some of the safety measures we will have in place for the event, and check back often as guidelines are subject to change.

2021 TROLLEY RUN SAFETY MEASURES:

Assigned Wave Starts: We will be using a staggered wave start to ensure safe and proper spacing at the start line, and on the course. Participants will be assigned a wave start times based on pace selected during registration with the faster runners going first, followed by the slower runners then walkers. Please pay attention to race week communication, as this is when your start time will officially be scheduled. This will result in extremely low course density allowing runners plenty of space in the corrals and on the course. In the starting corral, participants will position themselves at markings, measured six feet for social distancing and will be released in small groups.

Bag Check: In an effort to limit contact points for the event and combat the spread of COVID-19, there will not be a bag check at this year's event.

Masks: All participants must enter the start line with a proper face covering, and must wear one once you cross the finish line. You will not be required to wear your mask while you are on the course. We encourage you to maintain a safe distance from other participants on the course. All volunteers and event staff will be required to wear a mask throughout the duration of the event. All 4-mile and 8-mile participants will receive a Trolley Run face covering!

Water Stations: We will have water stations on the course, but they will consist of small water bottles for each participant. Volunteers will be required to wear mask and gloves while setting up the tables. Tables will be sanitized prior to setting water bottles on them. Bottles will be placed 12" apart and runners will have to grab their own bottle. Volunteers will not be allowed to hand bottles to runners. Tables will be placed 8 ft. apart and on both sides of the roads to limit crowding at the water stations. Trash cans will be available to minimize our footprint. We will leave the course cleaner than when we arrived.

Registration Transfer: Participants have the ability to change their in-person registration to a virtual registration in the event that you have been exposed to, or tested positive for COVID-19.

After Bash: There will not be After Bash or awards ceremony in 2021. Awards will be mailed to the overall winners.

Shuttle Service: Shuttle Service will be for participants only and a race bib will be required to board the buses. Face coverings must be worn at all times while on the bus and capacity will be limited to ensure social distancing.

Spectators: Spectating at the Start or Finish Lines is highly discouraged. If you wish to cheer on your participant, please choose a location along the race routes and be courteous and respectful of the distance between you and others.
